The Experience
Woodlands Rainforest Retreat is an indulgent short break destination for adult couples, a hideaway retreat offering a rare combination of genuine privacy, indulgent luxury and nature based experience in a truly secluded temperate rainforest just over the Black Spur in the Great Dividing Range.  Little more than an hour from Melbourne, the four architect designed self contained bungalows are situated in rainforest remnant on 16 hectares of native forest.  Each in their own private enclave, they overlook the fern gullies of the Hermitage Creek.

Woodlands has a rare offer for its guests: the joy of being secluded in a magnificent rainforest with a front row seat to natural wonders, where an echidna may amble along the forest floor, a wallaby could be nibbling on fern fronds at the window, or a pair of platypus is basking in the sun on the bushland lake.   There is always a chorus of native birds eager to dine with guests on the decking or cheeky possums curious to peak in the window at dusk.

Our fully accredited massage therapists can provide two aromatherapy relaxation massages simultaneously for you in the comfort of your bungalow.  These couples massages have proved a real winner with Woodlands' guests for many years now.


You probably won't want to leave your bungalow once you have arrived.  Fire side dining in winter and alfresco dining on the deck in summer are very popular.  We can even offer fully prepared quality chef prepared meals, delivered to your bungalow.
"We travelled to the Healesville Hotel Dining Room on the King's recommendation and enjoyed our meal immensely, they really deserve their 2 Chef' Hats award.

On the way back up the Mountain we saw a magnificent wild deer, then on the track to our cottage we saw a big fat wombat duck away from our head lights into the forest and then when we got back  to our cottage there was a beautiful possum with her baby on the verandah.    We could not believe our luck, such joy to witness these animals in the wild."
